This Is The Voice I Was Given
The title of tonight’s abstract expressionist illustration is “My Artistic Voice”
I had an epiphany today while I was inside my head as I was creating tonight’s abstract illustration. I remember the first David Lynch movie I saw “Eraserhead”. The movie was so full of strange images and liquidy, bulbous, white cream covered, baby powdered surreal images that I was on sensory overload trying to reconcile what I was seeing on screen. The chipmunk cheeked dancing woman stomping on what I can only assume were giant sperm. The strange visuals and the surreal backdrop both sickened me and inspired me. David Lynch’s visual and auditory style continued throughout his career. He had an artistic voice that was truly unique and truly his own. I also realize that I too have created a visual style and language that is truly my own. This is how my mind processes emotions and encapsulates them into a crystallized image. I am finding strength in my singularity.
